Zero Deforestation
A commitment that commodity production or sourcing is not linked to the clearing of forests, verified through traceability, cut-off dates and monitoring.
Definition
Zero deforestation describes commitments by companies, governments and financiers to eliminate deforestation from commodity supply chains such as palm oil, soy, beef, cocoa, coffee, rubber and timber. The Accountability Framework distinguishes zero gross deforestation (no clearing at all) from zero net deforestation (clearing balanced by restoration).
