Definition
A zero carbon building is a highly energy-efficient building whose remaining energy use is met by renewable sources, resulting in no operational carbon emissions. Leading frameworks, such as the UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework, also address embodied carbon, moving toward whole life zero carbon performance.
