Technology Transfer
The flow of technological know-how, equipment and capability from those who have it to those who need it — a founding obligation of the climate regime.
Definition
Technology transfer is the broad set of processes covering the flows of know-how, experience and equipment for mitigating and adapting to climate change amongst different stakeholders — the UNFCCC's definition. It is a treaty obligation: developed countries committed under Article 4.5 of the Convention to take all practicable steps to promote, facilitate and finance the transfer of environmentally sound technologies to developing countries, implemented today through the Technology Mechanism (TEC and CTCN).
