Definition

A technology needs assessment is a country-driven process under the UNFCCC technology framework in which developing countries identify and prioritise mitigation and adaptation technologies appropriate to their circumstances, analyse barriers to their deployment, and develop technology action plans for implementation. Managed by UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre with GEF funding since 2001, TNAs have been completed by over a hundred countries and feed project pipelines for climate funds.
