Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI)
The IPCC body maintaining the methodologies by which all countries count their greenhouse gas emissions.
Definition
The Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories is one of the IPCC's task forces, responsible for developing and refining the internationally agreed methodologies and software for calculating and reporting national greenhouse gas inventories — notably the 2006 IPCC Guidelines (with 2019 Refinement). It ensures that countries of all capacities estimate emissions and removals on a consistent, comparable basis, as required by UNFCCC reporting and the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework.
