Definition

The Special Climate Change Fund is a fund established under the UNFCCC in 2001 and managed by the Global Environment Facility, financing projects in adaptation — its top priority — as well as technology transfer, energy, transport, industry, agriculture, forestry and waste management in developing countries. Together with the Least Developed Countries Fund, it forms the GEF-administered climate funds family predating the Green Climate Fund, and it has been used notably for innovation windows and private sector engagement in adaptation.
