Shared Mobility
Transport services shared among users — car sharing, ride pooling, bike and scooter sharing — that reduce vehicle ownership and trips.
Definition
Shared mobility covers transport services in which vehicles or rides are shared among users, sequentially or simultaneously: car sharing, ride-hailing and pooling, bike and e-scooter sharing, and demand-responsive transport. Well integrated with public transit, shared services reduce the need for private car ownership — each shared car is estimated to replace multiple private vehicles — and extend the reach of fixed-route networks.
