Definition

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 is the UN agreement succeeding the Hyogo Framework, adopted at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, in 2015. It sets four priorities — understanding disaster risk, strengthening governance, investing in resilience, and enhancing preparedness with "Build Back Better" in recovery — and seven global targets, including substantial reductions in disaster mortality, affected people, economic losses and damage to infrastructure and services.
