Definition

The Principles for Sustainable Insurance are a global framework launched by the UNEP Finance Initiative in 2012 at the Rio+20 conference, comprising four principles committing insurers to embed ESG issues in decision-making, work with clients and partners to raise ESG performance, engage governments and regulators, and demonstrate accountability through public disclosure. The PSI initiative also develops implementation guidance on topics from climate risk to nature and social insurance.
